Greetings from Advanced Dentistry of Blakeney
Drs. John Pinnix and George Betancourt would like to extend our sincerest best wishes to you and your families. We hope that you continue to navigate these most difficult times with strength, perseverance and the promise that we will all soon return to 'business as usual'.
Please note, the purpose of this email is not to go into detail about our office protocols during the current COVID- 19 response. We always have and will continue to maintain the highest level of aseptic and sterilization techniques. Regarding our office hours, we are presently closed as a result of recommendations provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as the American Dental Association. For patients with upcoming appointments, trust that we will communicate directly with you via phone call to reschedule them as we learn more about our current situation.
For the time being, we want to extend to you, our patients, the helping hand you need during these times for all things dental. While we may be limited in terms of office hours and available services, Drs. Pinnix and Betancourt remain available to you via other modalities. For example, we ask that you please find and follow our social media pages, pinnixandbetancourt on Instagram, Advanced Dentistry of Blakeney on Facebook, and @BlakeneySmiles on Twitter. We will use these social media outlets as a means of communication and also a way to provide a Question & Answer forum for general questions anyone may have.
For personal/private needs related to ongoing treatment or your dental health, we will be available to schedule a virtual consultation. This may be accomplished via FaceTime, Zoom meeting or other platform whereby we may have a face to face encounter. These will be available to you, our patient, as a courtesy.
These are unprecedented times for us all. We strive to be on the front edge of the capabilities and service we provide our patients. Much of that depends on our availability and communication. We are here and we will, across any medium possible, provide the guidance you need during these difficult times. We ask that you please reach out to us either via email to the office (email@example.com), one of our social media platforms, or our phone line from which you can leave a message. We will make every effort possible to get back to you in a timely manner.
From Drs. Pinnix, Betancourt and our entire staff at Advanced Dentistry of Blakeney, we hope you and your families manage the COVID-19 pandemic with an abundance of care, caution and respect for the well being of our community.

Is your smile less than brilliant due to stains or discoloration? Teeth whitening is a fast, effective treatment that can help you feel more confident in your appearance with minimal impact on your budget. At Advanced Dentistry of Blakeney, Drs. John Pinnix and George Betancourt provide both take-home and in-office teeth whitening options to meet our patients' varied needs. Whether you would like to brighten your smile in the comfort of your own home or at our office in just one visit, we can help. To learn more about teeth whitening, contact our Charlotte, NC, office and schedule an appointment today.
We use Philips Zoom! WhiteSpeed® for our in-office whitening treatments. Philips Zoom!® is one of the most trusted whitening brands because it provides amazing results while minimizing sensitivity. Before your whitening beginning treatment, Dr. Pinnix or Dr. Betancourt can examine your smile to determine whether you are a good candidate for teeth whitening. If you have severe dental discoloration, we can recommend alternative treatment options, including porcelain veneers, to help you achieve your desired appearance.
If you decide to proceed with treatment, your doctor can determine the appropriate level of hydrogen peroxide in your bleaching gel. This is the whitening agent that will reach deep within your teeth to break up stains. Once your gums are protected, you will relax in one of our comfortable treatment chairs. One of our team members will carefully apply whitening gel to your teeth and position you under a blue LED light. This light activates the hydrogen peroxide, enhancing its whitening power. The Philips light can be adjusted to low, medium, or high settings for further whitening customization. In-office whitening is comfortable and provides instantaneous results. Once your treatment is complete, typically in under an hour, you are free to return to work or other activities.
Philips Zoom! DayWhite® is a take-home teeth whitening option. Take-home treatment is often preferred by patients with especially sensitive teeth. DayWhite® gradually whitens your teeth over several treatments that you administer during your free time. To begin at-home whitening, you will first come in to our office so that we can take impressions of your teeth. These impressions are used to create customized trays that will hold your whitening gel in place.
To whiten at home, you will apply a thin line of gel in your trays, then slide them over your teeth. Most patients whiten at home for 15-30 minutes at a time. While you wear your trays, you can relax, watch television, clean, or do other activities. Once your treatment is complete, you will simply rinse your teeth and go about your day. Most patients whiten several times a week for a few weeks at a time until they have achieved their aesthetic goals. At-home whitening is safe because our dentists carefully regulate the level of hydrogen peroxide in take-home gel so that it can be used multiple times a week without damaging your teeth.
Many of our patients choose to combine in-office and take-home whitening for the most comprehensive results. Once you have undergone in-office treatment, touch-ups with take-home kits can maintain a bright, white smile. Additionally, you should consider:
These healthy habits and lifestyle adjustments can keep your smile lustrous for years to come.
