Smile Makeover

Cosmetic flaws can diminish the beauty of your smile, and in some cases, a single cosmetic treatment cannot offer the results you desire.

A smile makeover combines multiple treatments together into a personalized treatment plan, allowing our team at Advanced Dentistry of Blakeney to transform your smile.

Enhancing Your Smile Can Change Your Life

How do I know if a smile makeover is right for me?

Most Patients with Cosmetic Flaws Will Qualify for a Smile Makeover

Multiple Cosmetic Issues

Typically, our doctors recommend a smile makeover for patients who want to address multiple cosmetic concerns in a comprehensive treatment plan.

Good Oral Health

It is important to be in good oral health before pursuing cosmetic changes to your smile. Dr. Pinnix or Betancourt can examine your smile and determine if you need restorative treatments before beginning your makeover.

Ready to Invest in Your Smile

Insurance won't cover the cost of cosmetic procedures, so patients interested in a smile makeover should be sure they are ready to pay out of pocket. However, we offer financing options that can make the smile of your dreams affordable.

I'm not sure I need to make a big change...

You Can Control Every Aspect of Your Smile Makeover

Smile makeovers are all about personalization, meaning you are in charge of the scope of your treatment. Some of our patients choose to focus on minor issues, such as discoloration and cracks, while others want a dramatic transformation.

So how does a smile makeover work?

Your Treatment Timeline Will Depend on the Type and Number of Issues You Wish to Address

Each smile makeover is personalized, meaning no two treatment timelines are exactly alike. Dr. Pinnix or Betancourt can provide an estimated timeline after your initial consultation.

Initial Consultation

First, you will meet with one of our doctors to discuss your concerns, goals, and budget.

Restorative Treatments

If you have oral health issues, such as extensive decay or gum disease, Dr. Pinnix or Betancourt may recommend restorative treatments before beginning your makeover.

Cosmetic Treatments

Depending on the number of procedures and the current state of your smile, your makeover may only require a single appointment. However, most smile makeovers take several sessions to complete.

A Smile Makeover Can Provide Both Cosmetic and Functional Benefits

Patients who undergo a smile makeover at our practice can enjoy a wide range of cosmetic benefits. Depending on the procedures you choose, these could include:

  • Fewer surface flaws, such as chips
  • Straighter teeth
  • Whiter, brighter teeth
  • A more uniform, even smile
  • Closed gaps

In addition to these cosmetic benefits, some patients may enjoy functional advantages as well. For example, if your smile makeover included custom restorations or orthodontic treatment, you can experience:

How to Determine the Cost of a Smile Makeover

Each smile makeover is designed to meet the unique needs of our patients. This means the costs involved can vary greatly from patient to patient, depending upon the number of procedures performed, the technology used, and the type of sedation selected. During your consultation, Drs. Pinnix and Betancourt can review your final smile makeover cost so you can begin to budget accordingly.

A Closer Look at Smile Makeover Cost Factors

The Type of Procedures

The type of procedures in your treatment plan will affect the overall cost. Minor treatments, such as teeth whitening, generally cost less than more complex procedures, such as porcelain veneers.

The Number of Procedures

More treatments typically mean higher costs. Patients who choose teeth whitening and dental bonding will generally incur a lower treatment cost than those who choose to upgrade their smiles with teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, and gum contouring.

Technology

Our office uses the latest dental technology to provide the highest quality of care, including digital x-rays, CEREC®, and laser technology. Some of our technologies can save you money by reducing lab fees. However, others may add to your final cost.

Materials

More aesthetic materials, such as dental porcelain, often cost more than other options. For example, veneers are typically more expensive than bonding. However, ceramic provides more realistic and durable results.

Sedation Options

We can often perform cosmetic dentistry treatments without the need for sedation. However, if you suffer from dental anxiety or have sensitive teeth, we offer several forms of sedation, including nitrous oxide, oral medication, and intravenous (IV) sedation.

Affordable Financing

Cosmetic dentistry treatments are typically not covered by insurance. However, because your smile plays an important role in your overall self-confidence well-being, we strive to make these procedures more affordable. We accept financing through CareCredit® and Citi Health® Card to help offset the costs involved. These financing plans allow patients to make affordable monthly payments over time.

Your Initial Consultation

Those interested in a smile makeover at our practice will meet with one of our doctors for an initial consultation. A smile makeover can effectively address several aesthetic concerns, including:

  • Chips and cracks
  • Crowded, crooked, or overlapped teeth
  • Gaps or spacing between the teeth
  • Tooth discoloration
  • Misshapen teeth
  • A “gummy” or uneven smile
  • Visible silver fillings

Your doctor will take all the time necessary to understand your specific cosmetic goals and discuss your options with you.

A smile makeover includes two or more cosmetic treatments, personalized to meet the unique needs of the individual.

During this visit, your doctor will also evaluate your oral health to ensure you are a good candidate for a smile makeover. Eligible patients should have healthy teeth and gums. If any serious oral health concerns are present, such as extensive decay or gum disease, your doctor will recommend restorative treatments before pursuing any cosmetic procedures.

Commonly Combined Treatments

Because every patient is unique, no two smile makeovers will be the same. However, there are several popular cosmetic procedures to choose from, including:

  • Dental bonding: This treatment involves the application of tooth-colored composite resin, which can conceal a wide range of imperfections, such as chips, cracks, discoloration, and more.
  • Tooth-colored fillings: If you have old amalgam fillings that are visible when you smile, they can be replaced with tooth-colored composite fillings for a more natural-looking appearance.
  • Porcelain veneers: Like bonding, veneers can conceal a number of aesthetic issues, including chips, fractures, gaps, and misshapen teeth. These thin ceramic shells are bonded to the front surfaces of the teeth and can deliver a more uniform, balanced smile.
  • Dental crowns: These restorations are used in restorative and cosmetic procedures alike. Similar to veneers, crowns can address several aesthetic concerns. However, a crown is designed to fit over the entire tooth rather than just the front surface.
  • Teeth whitening: Yellowed, discolored, or dull teeth can be brightened by several shades with professional teeth whitening. At Advanced Dentistry of Blakeney, we offer both in-office and take-home options.
  • Invisalign®: Patients who have overlapping, gapped teeth, or other forms of dental misalignment can benefit from orthodontic treatment. At our practice, we offer the Invisalign system, which is a clear, removable alternative to traditional metal braces.
  • Laser gum reshaping: Those with an uneven or “gummy” smile can undergo laser gum reshaping. This advanced procedure eliminates excess gum tissue and contours the gum line for a more symmetrical, balanced appearance.
